A prepared AWS starting point for your production workflow.
Your time is better spent building the show than tracking down drivers. This preconfigured Amazon Machine Image (AMI) gives you a Windows Server 2025 starting point with NVIDIA GPU drivers and Amazon DCV remote access already in place. Launch it in your AWS account, install your production software like vMix, and build the workflow your show needs.
A cloud studio base image for live streaming, remote production, and multi-camera broadcasting on Windows Server 2025. Includes Amazon DCV Server, NVIDIA GRID drivers 539 or later, .NET Framework 3.5, and media components and optimizations for live streaming software. Install OBS or bring your own vMix license; vMix is not pre-installed.
Less setup between you and the show
- Skip the base-machine build. Start with Windows, GPU drivers, and remote-desktop software already prepared.
- Use the production tools you know. Install vMix or other compatible software and build around your existing workflow.
- Add cloud production capacity without buying another physical workstation.
- Connect remotely with Amazon DCV to operate your cloud machine.
Built for hands-on production businesses
For independent producers, agencies, and small or midsize production teams that want a practical starting point for live streaming and remote production. A good fit when you can manage an AWS instance and want to spend less time preparing the machine.
What you’ll still need
An AWS account, a suitable instance, and the AWS configuration for your workflow. You’ll install and configure your production applications and test the complete setup before going live. vMix is not preinstalled; bring your own vMix license. AWS infrastructure charges and any software-license costs are additional to the AMI’s Marketplace charges. Check the listing for current pricing and terms.

Can I deploy this myself?
Yes—if you’re comfortable launching an AWS instance and configuring access to it. The AMI prepares the Windows environment; you still choose the machine, install your production software, and test your show.
From AWS account to your cloud desktop
- Create or sign in to your AWS account. Start at aws.amazon.com. You’ll need an active account with billing enabled and permission to subscribe to Marketplace products and launch EC2 instances.
- Open the AMI listing. Go to Cloud Studio Masters 2026 on AWS Marketplace, review the current price and terms, and accept the agreement. Accepting the agreement is only the first step—you still need to launch an instance.
- Choose your Region and a supported GPU instance. Continue through the Marketplace configuration and launch options. Check that your account has enough GPU vCPU quota in that Region before launching.
- Configure and launch. Choose storage, an EC2 key pair, and networking that fit your workflow. Keep the key pair’s private key safe: you’ll use it to retrieve the Windows password. Restrict remote-access rules to your own IP address or your team’s approved network.
- Connect with Amazon DCV. Once the instance is ready, select it in EC2 and use Security → Get Windows Password with your key pair. Connect to the instance’s reachable address using an Amazon DCV client and the Windows credentials. DCV uses TCP port 8443 by default; your network and security group must allow it from your approved source.
- Install your tools and test. Install OBS, or install vMix with your own licence. Add your sources, audio, graphics, recording, and streaming destinations, then rehearse the complete workflow before a live production.
What will it cost?
The AMI software charge starts at $0.15 per running instance-hour on selected sizes, including g5.xlarge. Some larger supported sizes are $0.20/hour. For example, 20 running hours at $0.15/hour adds $3 in AMI software charges.
That is in addition to AWS compute, storage, data transfer, public IPv4, and any other services you use. Production software licences are separate. Check the Marketplace listing for current rates and use the cloud studio cost calculator to explore a budget. Rates checked October 19, 2026.
A few things to check before you launch
Which instance should I start with?
The listing recommends g5.xlarge as a starting point. Choose from the supported sizes offered for your Region, then test with your real sources, resolution, graphics, and recording requirements. A larger show may need more CPU, memory, or GPU capacity; a preset is not a performance guarantee.
What if AWS says my GPU quota is zero?
In AWS Service Quotas, select Amazon EC2 and check Running On-Demand G and VT instances in your chosen Region. Request enough vCPUs for your planned instance. Approval is not instant or guaranteed, and available capacity is a separate consideration. Read AWS’s quota guide.
How do I avoid paying for idle time?
When you’re finished, save your work and stop the instance in the EC2 console. Closing DCV does not stop the machine. Once stopped, On-Demand compute charges stop, but retained storage, snapshots, and some networking resources can still cost money. Check AWS Billing and set a budget alert. See AWS’s instance-state billing guide.
